There is so much football and school starts fast and furious. Football has a lot of time demands because of the various aspects involved. Football is a mental, emotion, and physical game. Therefore, with weight training, getting treatment, installing and digesting gameplan, practice and academics, I'd say our plate is full. Academics are by far the most important thing right now. Most collegiate athletes at Cal understand that after our bodies fail us, we will still have the knowledge and experience from this great institution. Not to mention the powerful degree from the top public university in the world. I know everybody has pretty full daily schedules, but here is a look at what my typical Tuesday, Wednesday look like.

Tuesday
7:15-8:15 Pilates
8:25-9:05 Treatment
9:30-11:00 ISF 61
11:00-12:00 American Studies 112A
12:00-1:00 Linguistics 1A
1:00-2:00 American Studies Section
2:15-3:30 Gameplan Meeting
4:00-6:15 Practice
6:30-7:00 Training Table
7:00-9:00 Anthropology 98
40min-1hr Film Study

Wednesday
8:30-9:30 Treatment
10:00-11:00 Pilates
11:00-11:50 Weight Training
12:00-1:00 Linguistics 1A
1:00-2:00 Treatment
2:15-3:30 Gameplan Meeting
4:00-6:15 Practice
6:20-6:45 Interviews
7:00-8:00 Training Table
40min-1hr Film Study

Tuesdays are the toughest day of my week. I just hope I don't have any homework that night or it becomes the day that never ends. Its not too bad, I enjoy my classes and I like the challenge that football presents everyday. I'll try to throw together a schedule of what an entire week might look like, but I don't know, there might not be enough time.

Go Bears!
 Nate Longshore

Fall Camp Schedule

During August is when all college football players get their real test. The ultimate test of toughness. It is 20+ days of nothing but football. We joke about being in football prison, especially because of the throwback jail bars on Memorial Stadium. Its 20 days of a nonstop football extravaganza. We stay in Bowles Hall, old school dorm, but then we move into the luxurious Claremont Hotel for the last few days. Never going home, no tv(except NFL network), no news updates, no visiting hours, no sleeping in. Time might as well stand still, we couldn't even tell you what day of the week it is. All we know is that it is day 11 or day 12, 8 more to go. Here is an example of two days of camp. Keep in mind that free time is when we get treatment for our injuries and ailing bodies, as well as refresh what plays and concepts we installed that day.

Camp Schedule

Its no walk in the park. Camp is definitely a mental test, especially when even you start dreaming about football. The worst is when you have a dream about messing up a play and you get yelled at in your sleep. Yelled at on the field, yelled at in meetings, yelled at in your sleep. The price for success is high.

Go Bears!
 Nate Longshore

First Day

My name is Nate Longshore and welcome to my blog. I have wanted to do this for a while now and have just finally got around to it. There are no editors, no media relations, no "supervisors", just me and some guest bloggers leaving our story of what's happening. Sometimes writers and newscasters just don't get the real story, so this will be an interesting opportunity to experience it directly from the athletes themselves. Feel free to read and browse, check back because I have some sweet material on the horizon. Look for the updated pictures that will help document what life is really like as a college athlete. Also, you can send emails or questions to nate@nate9blog.com.

Thanks and Go Bears,
 Nate Longshore
